ONE QUESTION · ABOUT ONE MINUTE
Did Meridian identify the right question?
Osamah, I spent some time after our conversation looking beyond the current operation — through the origins of Orphans in Need, the U.S. build, the leadership transition, the Mercy Without Limits connection, the financial filings, and the credibility signals around the organization. You do not need to reread the full email to respond here.
THE OUTSIDE ASSESSMENT
OIN USA is clearly growing. What is less visible from the outside is the organizational DNA that the growth is intended to strengthen.
Fundraising appears to have been part of OIN USA’s purpose from the beginning, and the current leadership team is now adding people, donor-care capacity, outreach, communications, systems, and external credibility. The assessment is therefore not whether OIN should grow. It is whether the organization has defined clearly enough what it intends to become so that growth can be measured against something more meaningful than size alone.
OIN USA appears to have been established in substantial part to build a strong U.S. fundraising engine for the broader Orphans in Need mission.
The organization has moved from its first U.S. build into a new leadership phase with deeper fundraising experience, a larger team, broader outreach, heavier communications, and stronger donor and credibility infrastructure.
The unresolved question is what should remain distinctly OIN as the organization grows — because that definition eventually drives the people, processes, measurements, accountability, donor experience, partnerships, and operating system built around it.
